March 3rd-

We left Moscow around 3 pm and headed out to Portland, Oregon. It was about 20 minutes into the drive when we realized that we were hungry, and with no money to spend, we hand to get food through any means we could. We walked into Arby's and Mike talked the manager into giving us some food. The manager helped us out with 2 roast beef sandwiches and s-*WOAH THIS LADY JUST BROUGHT US COFFEE CAKE*- anyways, the manager hooked us up with roast beef sandwiches and fries.

We were off once again, I was coming over a cold so i tried to get as much sleep as i could. When i would wake up now and then the drive was absolutely beautiful. Soon sitting sedentary for 2 hours got us hungry again, so we stopped at a small produce store and this is what I got us:

We finally arrive in Portland.  I didnt think it had too much of a dirty crime ridden area like most large cities i have been in. There was a domestic dispute at a cross walk we encountered, a sketchy guy asking us if we wanted a ride because he needed help getting around town, and a bum scratching his back up against the corner of a building but other than that it was filled with a lot of normal people and youth. It was about 11 pm and we start asking people at bars and coffee shops if they would mind having us stay at their place. They all were accepting of our idea and wished us well, however no one actually let us stay at their place. Starbucks did get us free breakfast sandwiches though! We walked everywhere in that city until we decided to head back in the car and face defeat:

here we are at the Walmart parking lot. the sleep was absolutely awful. I dont even know if Mike slept at all. I had Mike's sunglasses to block out the bright walmart lights and a twisted up sleeping bag that i didnt even bother to straighten out. The windows fogged up and started to get stuffy. I slept in all sorts of weird positions all through the night. I tried the reclined seat position, the head against the window position, and (my favorite) laying across passenger and driver seat with ribs against the stick shift.  Mike enjoyed shifting positions every 30 minutes laying across the back seat.
